Secretary Clinton has been released after 48 hours in the hospital.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been hospitalized with a blood clot. The clot is said to be the result of a concussion she sustained after fainting from flu symptoms last months. Doctors will monitor her condition for the next 48 hours.
Clinton's tenure as Secretary of state will soon come to an end, though not without some controversy surrounding her replacement. Earlier this month, Ambassador Susan Rice removed her name from the selection process when faced with unprecedented and massive protests from the right. President Obama responded by naming John Kerry as the next nominee. Kerry is expected to be a shoe-in as Republicans look forward to the opportunity to battle for his open seat in the senate.
In the interim, Clinton remains at her post after what will hopefully be a short leave of absense. Many are hopeful that stepping down from the Secretary of State position will give rise to a 2016 bid for the whitehouse. Clinton has said repeatedly that she has no plans to seek the post.
